Kiesha's stepfather pleads guilty to manslaughter

06 Feb, 2012 08:05 AM
THE stepfather of six-year-old Mount Druitt girl Kiesha Weippeart pleaded guilty to her manslaughter, last week.

Robert Smith formally entered guilty pleas to manslaughter and to being an accessory after the fact of murder when he was arraigned in the NSW Supreme Court on Friday.

The 32-year-old and the girl's mother Kristi Abrahams, 28, were charged with Kiesha's murder.

The school girl was been reported missing from her home at Hebersham, on August 1, 2010, by her parents.

The charges followed the finding of human remains in bushland at Shalvey, on April 22, 2011.

In the NSW Supreme Court, Smith pleaded guilty to unlawfully killing Kiesha on or about July 13, 2010.

He also admitted that between July 13, 2010 and April 2, 2011, knowing that Kristi Abrahams had murdered Kiesha, he "received, harboured, maintained and assisted" her.

No date has been set for his sentencing hearing. Abrahams has not been required to enter a plea.
