BUNDY, the cattle dog, has won hearts across Australia on her motorbike rides for charity with owner Tex O'Grady, a Minchinbury businessman.
But Bundy is off the road for a while after an accident at home a fortnight ago.
She's paralysed with a fractured spine after tripping over a drain.
``It couldn't have happened at a worse time,'' said Mr O'Grady's partner, Jenny Patten.
``Bundy had a jam-packed schedule in February, including a 12,000 kilometre ride to Darwin.
``She gets upset whenever Tex starts up his bike.
``Her recovery time is unknown but, hopefully, with lots of physio she'll be back doing what she does best, which is putting smiles on faces.''
Bundy's activities have raised more than $300,000 in four years for CanTeen, the Children's Hospital at Westmead, The Variety Club and cancer research.
She's one of four fund-raising champions for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, which called Bundy its most effective marketing tool.
``She raises awareness of important issues that many people usually don't feel easy speaking about,'' Ms Patten said.
Bundy only takes part in interstate rides, after RTA laws revamped in 2008 banned animals from riding on the front of a motorcycle in NSW.
Mr O'Grady hasn't given up his fight for Bundy's exemption and has NSW Nationals leader Andrew Stoner's support.
It will be at least six months before Bundy can get back on the bike.
``With lots of love, hopefully she'll come good,'' Mr O'Grady said.
``She's recovering better here at home than in hospital. Here she's surrounded by love and is comfortable in a familiar environment.''
