Countdown to Christmas

17 Nov, 2009 11:11 AM
Around 150 volunteers will spend the next five weeks packing emergency food parcels for needy families after Anglicare launched its Toys n Tucker campaign in Mt Druitt last week.

Anglicare will distribute more than 3000 toys and 2000 boxes of food across Sydney and Wollongong so that families having hardship can enjoy a stress-free festive season.

Sustainable Living program manager Felicia Fitzgerald called for Christmas food items such as ham, pudding, fruit cake and custard.

Toys are also welcome so that children don't miss out on a visit from Santa.

Demand for emergency relief has skyrocketed during the global financial crisis, not only for low socio-economic families but also middle-income earners.

Drop off your donations at 91A Kurrajong Street, Mt Druitt until December 11.
