A new Roads and Traffic Authority Motor Registry office will soon open in St Marys.
State Mulgoa MP Diane Beamer said that the RTA was finalising the details of a five year lease to open the state-of-the-art facility in the Station Plaza, Phillip Street, St Marys.
“These new style motor registries are designed to improve services for customers while providing a modern and comfortable environment for both customers and staff,'' Ms Beamer said.
“The registry at St Marys will replace the St Clair Motor Registry that was shutdown in June last year after the owners asked the RTA to vacate the premises while they carried out reconstruction work.
“Station Plaza is an ideal location because it is situated opposite the St Marys Railway Station and bus terminus and provides excellent customer access.”
Ms Beamer said that all registration and licensing services would be available at the new site.
“Driver testing will continue to be provided at the improved testing facility Blacktown, and also at Mt Druitt and Penrith,” she said.
“The registry will incorporate 10 transaction counters, seating for 30 people and will employ up to 12 staff. ”It will also include a voice activated queue system to improve the flow of transactions.
“Hours will also be extended to Saturdays to provide customers with more opportunities to complete their registration and licensing requirements.
Ms Beamer said that the registry would be open in late January 2009, with construction starting in late September.
“The Government has opened three state-of-the-art motor registries in the last ten months - all in Sydney’s west – and we will open St Marys next year.
