Police beat- February 6

*St Clair residents were woken to the sound of gun shots on Sunday morning.

It’s believed shots were fired at a home in Melville Road around 1.20am.

It wasn't initially reported to police, who was notified about the incident around midday.

Police attended the house, where crime scene was established and the premises were examined. Detectives from St Marys and the State Crime Command Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad are investigating the incident.

No one was injured and the occupants were given the all clear to return home later that afternoon.

Police have appealed for information from the public.

*Police and fire crews were called to Lansdowne Road, Orchard Hills around 12.30am this morning (February 6). after a vehicle was found to be alight.

The fire was extinguished and the vehicle was towed for further examination.

The vehicle was a 2008 model white and grey coloured Jeep Patriot wagon.

Anyone who may have seen this vehicle in the area or has information about the fire should call St Marys Police Station on 9677 7499 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

*A man, 22, has been rescued after riding his motorcycle into a flooded causeway at Shanes Park on Saturday night.

Mt Druitt Police and emergency services responded to reports of a motorcyclist stuck in floodwater on Stony Creek Road around 9pm.

Officers were told man had attempted to cross the flooded causeway despite the road closure signs and closed floodgates.

Police and NSW Fire and Rescue waded into the water and used ropes to retrieve him.

The man was not injured.

His motorcycle was swept away by floodwater.

Inquiries are continuing.

The incident has urged police and emergency services to remind the public floodwater is extremely dangerous as it can have fast moving undercurrents that can wash people and vehicles away.

People should never drive, ride or walk through floodwater.

*Investigations are continuing after a woman was found dead in her Colyton home on Thursday.

Police found the deceased woman inside the Kent Place home around 10am after concerns were raised for her welfare.

She was aged about 50, police said. The cause of death has not yet been determined and it’s still unclear if

there were any suspicious circumstances.

*A CAREFLIGHT doctor performed emergency roadside surgery on a trapped motorist in Wallacia on Sunday.

The man aged in his 30s, crashed a car in Bents Basin Road in the late afternoon.

The car left the road and plunged down a gully, hitting a tree.

Two passengers in the car were also injured.

The CareFlight team landed at the scene at about 6pm.

The driver, who sustained head, chest and abdominal injuries, was trapped for 40 minutes.

The CareFlight doctor treated him and the passengers, helped by ambulance paramedics and police officers.

The doctor put the motorist in an induced coma before he was airlifted to Westmead Hospital.

He remains in a critical condition.

The two passengers were taken to Liverpool Hospital.
