Vandals given the brush-off

09 Mar, 2010 09:11 AM
GRAFFITI-DAMAGED Erskine Park Scout Hall has a new lease of life.

Bunnings Warehouse Minchinbury and Dulux employees donated materials and their time last Wednesday to give the hall a much-needed facelift.

Dulux supplier Keith Morrison jumped at the chance to volunteer for the project when he heard about the eyesore from a work associate who has two sons at the Scout club.

``It's our way of giving back to the community,'' Mr Morrison said.

``Fingers crossed all the hard work we've done doesn't go to waste.''

Numbers at the Scout group have tripled in the past three years and recently expanded to include a Joeys group, of boys and girls aged six and seven.

Registrations are expected soar again because of the makeover.

The group also plans to establish a venturers groups for Scouts aged 15 and over.

``It's 100 per cent better than it was before,'' Scout leader Andrew McLean said.

``It's much more inviting and pleasant. People won't be so afraid to come here.''

Mr McLean had a plea for graffiti vandals.

``Leave our hall alone,'' he said.

The club welcomes new members.

Details: Andrew, 0431118165.
