POLICE have appealed to the public for assistance following the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl in St Marys on Monday.
The young girl was walking along College Street at about 5pm when she was set upon by a man.
The man, who was described as a Caucasian, more than 181cm tall and about 100 kilograms, dragged the girl into the front yard of a house and sexually assaulted her.
The man than ran from the scene.
The girl managed to make her way home and report the assault to family.
Police attended the family's home before forensically examining the crime scene.
The teenage girl was taken to hospital for treatment.
