THE Penrith Panthers senior men's and women's basketball teams will play their first double header of the season at the Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre (PVRSC) Cambridge Park on Saturday, April 10.
The women will host the Wagga Wagga Heat from 2pm, while the men will take on the Glebe Magic from 4pm.
This will be the first outing for the Penrith men, who have been forced to sit on the sidelines with all other teams in Pool D, while the other three pools of the men's competition are well into their season.
Although the Penrith men are yet to throw a shot, this year's playing roster has already changed, with star recruit Anto Lalic announcing he has quit the squad due to interstate work commitments. The Penrith women's two game winning streak came to an abrupt end after their round three clash on March 27, falling 81-37 to the Central Coast Crusaders.
The Panthers travelled north without leading junior Taylah Clark and Kelly Bond and paid a heavy price for travelling at less than full strength.
Former US college player Larelle Roper (Troy University, Alabama), Molly Lewis (Acuvue Sydney Uni Flames WNBL) and Jacinta Governer (TransACT Canberra Capitals WNBL) headed an impressive line-up for the home team, which led throughout in the 44-point win.
