THE Penrith Panthers State League Men's team enter 2010 as the three-time NSW State League champions.
They appear to have their sights firmly affixed on a fourth consecutive title after the return of a number of prodigal sons to the association.
Shooting guard Anto Lalic (Parramatta Wildcats WBL), small forward Steve Gavrilovic (Hornsby Spiders WBL), power forward Ben Hawkesley (Hawkesbury Jets SL), point guard Rob Crane (Hawkesbury Jets SL) and power forward Bruce Wells (Hawkesbury Jets SL) have all apparently seen the light and have made the move back home to bolster the Panthers already impressive ranks.
Their inclusion to the team roster for 2010 more than compensates for the loss of the district's two leading rookies from 2009. Tom Dawson goes up a division to play with the Hornsby Spiders in the Waratah Basketball League (WBL) and point guard Sean Albert switches to Australian football.
The Penrith women's team has also welcomed back two prodigal daughters in St Clair resident Chantyl Szostak and Kelly Bond, who both played for the Panthers in the junior representative ranks. Melissa Pajtler also returns after a break from playing.
