 Wickets fall to Nadeshan

Wickets fall to Nadeshan

17 Nov, 2009 10:44 AM
SOME clubs have their big name recruits: Blacktown has Kish Nadeshan.

He came to the Warriors as last summer's leading wicket-taker in pennant cricket.

Nadeshan didn't have to announced he had arrived against North Sydney on Saturday.

The swing bowler's wicket-taking had already made that announcement for him.

Nadeshan's 3-35 from 21 overs merely affirmed him as one of Sydney's first-grade cricket's recruits of the season.

Alas, the other bowlers weren't as thrifty or penetrative.

Norths were struggling at 3-29 before opener Ardil Domingo made 69 and then Scott Rodgie consolidated with 53.

Blacktown were again a chance of restricting them to a reachable target when Norths were 6-189.

Then Joshua Kentwell, 30, and Bob Aitken, 33, defied the bowlers, allowing Norths to reach a daunting 281.

Blacktown will resume at 1-12 this Saturday after losing Kosigan Beadle for 6.

The Warriors will struggle to avoid an outright loss when they resume in seconds on Saturday.

They are 9-136, chasing North Sydney's 205.

Blacktown fared better in thirds and will resume at 0-26 chasing 189, thanks to Rhys Lowery taking 3-16.

Norths are about to take the points in fourths, reaching 3-115 in reply to 117.

In fifths, Norths were out for 152 and Norths are 4-32.

South Sydney are 1-53, chasing Blacktown's 209 in Metropolitan Cup.

Blacktown will have a gala day this Sunday, playing Penrith in firsts and Poidevin-Gray Shield in T20 games at Joe McAleer Reserve.
