A CAPACITY crowd of 10,000 is expected to pack Blacktown Olympic Park when the Sydney Swans AFL team battle the Carlton Blues in a round one preseason NAB Cup clash on February20.
Tickets are now on sale at Rooty Hill RSL for what's shaping up to be a big night.
The game marks the first ever elite AFL match at the new home of Team Greater Western Sydney, which is expected to kick off in 2012.
In what could be a footy code war in western Sydney, the game is on the same night Penrith Panthers and Parramatta Eels play a pre-season match at Penrith's CUA Stadium.
The Swans are fired up to make amends in 2010 after they missed out on the top eight for the first time since 2002.
They failed to progress past the first round of the NAB Cup last season when they were thrashed by Port Adelaide in Canberra.
Inaugural Team GWS coach Kevin Sheedy described the night as an historic occasion.
The game will be broadcast live across Australia.
``It's our first chance to showcase AFL at its highest level to the community at this impressive venue, right in their backyard,'' he said.
Prematch entertainment includes an animal farm, fire-brigade exhibits, face-painting, temporary tattoos, citizenship ceremony and a performance by 2009 Australian Idol winner Stan Walker.
Rooty High High School principal Christine Cawsey admitted she had no idea about AFL before she became part of the GWS community advisory board last year.
She encouraged others unfamiliar with the code to give it a chance.
``Another sport for western Sydney isn't a bad thing,'' she said. ``Why not give AFL a go?''
Gates open at 5pm for a 7.40pm kick-off.
Tickets: $16 (adults), $10.50 (concessions), $5 (ages7 to 17), free entry for under7s.
A family pass for two adults and up to four children costs $32.
A second game will be played in Blacktown if the Swans make the semi-finals.
