Penrith making the grade

03 Nov, 2009 11:10 AM
ONLY a disastrous batting collapse will prevent Penrith claiming first-innings points in its two-day match against Mosman in the Sydney grade cricket competition.

First grade are well on the way to their third win of the season and will resume the run chase on Saturday at 5-111 in reply to the home side's score of 154.

Patrick Jackson (9) and captain Luke Morrissey (0) are the not-out batsmen after Dave Taylor set up his side for

victory with a solid half century on Saturday.

Earlier, Penrith bowlers caused havoc as Max McNamara led the charge with three wickets. Ryan Smith and Matthew Halse chipped in with two each.

Second grade are also in the hunt after they posted a massive total of 8-361 at Howell Oval.

Sagar Pradham was the star of the show and fell just 20 runs short of a

double century.

Christian Samuels (76) and Tim Cummins (61) also piled on the runs.

Third grade are off to a shaky start to its run chase of 204. Penrith will resume at 2-29 after Ronit Lotliker celebrated a four-wicket haul earlier.

Mitchell Miladinski (52), Brent Williams (45) and James Pinter (37) made solid contributions in fourth grade's score of 8-248 at Cook Park, St Marys.

Fifth grade will chase a total of 195 when they're sent into bat this week.

Jacob Apicella was the pick of the Penrith bowlers with his four-wicket haul.

Play resumes this Saturday at 10.30am for first and second grades, 12.30pm for other grades.

First grade return on Sunday with a Twenty-20 Cup clash against University of NSW at the Village Green from 2.30pm.
