A man has been arrested and charged with 24 offences over the alleged theft of a highway patrol car during a vehicle stop in Dean Park on January 27.
Traffic Strike Force and Mt Druitt officers stopped a car on the M7 at Deans Park, near the Richmond Road off ramp.
It’s alleged the male driver struggled with officers, who were attempting to search him, before breaking free and running away.
He then allegedly stole a police highway patrol car and drove away.
The stolen police car was found later that evening in Parramatta but the initial search for the man was unsuccessful.
Mt Druitt detectives attended a home on Hythe Street, Mt Druitt, just before noon on Tuesday (February 12) after receiving information..
A man, 33 was arrested and been charged with 24 matters including police pursuit not stop x 4, resist officer in execution of duty, assault officer in execution of duty, escape police custody and take and drive conveyance.
He was refused bail and will face Mt Druitt Local Court on February 13.
