Youth charged after Emerton home invasion

A 17-year-old youth was held by homeowners until police arrived after allegedly breaking into their house in Emerton this morning.

The couple, a man aged 38 and a woman aged 36, were asleep in their house about 1am today, Sunday March 3, when they were woken by someone entering through a side window.

The man and his teenage nephew held the youth until police arrived and arrested him.

He was taken to Mt Druitt police station where he was charged with five offences including aggravated breaking and entering, two counts of obtaining financial advantage by deception and robbery in company.

Police allege several offences occurred on February 9 this year when a family at Tregear were woken by a person inside their home.

Electronic equipment, cash and car keys were stolen during this incident.

The final charge relates to the alleged robbery of two men at Lethbridge Park that same night.

The youth, from Mt Druitt, was refused bail and held in custody overnight before his appearance in Parramatta Children’s Court today, Sunday, March 3.
