State Finance Minister Greg Pearce has come under fire from the Western Sydney Residents Against Radioactive Dumping group after suggesting no one lived within kilometres of the Kemps Creek SITA facility.
"He has obviously never been to the Kemps Creek area: someone needs to show him a map," group spokeswoman Penrith councillor Prue Car said.
"Around 3000 people live in Kemps Creek, Mount Vernon, Badgerys Creek and Luddenham — all within five kilometres.
"Mr Pearce is treating these people like second-class citizens."
This comes after Penrith Council resolved to oppose the transfer of any waste from Hunters Hill to Kemps Creek.
