THE National Broadband Network (NBN) coming to Penrith means computer literacy is more important than ever.
Later this year Penrith will be among the first sites in Australia to receive NBN, which delivers data via light through fibre cables.
"It's one thing to bring fibre optic capability to the community, but people need the capability to deal with it," Nepean Community College's principal Eric Wright said.
He said free computer training, available at Penrith's Digital Hub in Penrith Library and Nepean College since February, would "lift digital literacy in the community".
