There's hope for a scanner at Mt Druitt Hospital

FEDERAL Health Minister Tanya Plibersek has responded to an article in last week’s Star on Mount Druitt Hospital missing out on a licence for an MRI scanner.

‘‘Since I became Health Minister a little over a year ago, Ed Husic, your local member, has been telling me how much an MRI machine is needed at Mount Druitt Hospital,’’ Ms Plibersek said.

‘‘He’s told me about how difficult it is to get to Parramatta or Blacktown for a scan. So far, Mount Druitt hasn’t received a licence but this doesn’t mean it never will.

‘‘Feedback is critical for health planning so you should continue to let Ed know where your priorities lie. We’ll keep looking at how we can make MRI scans more accessible, and you can rest assured that Ed Husic won’t let me forget just how important this issue is to Mount Druitt.’’
