Bidwill man charged over armed robbery at Werrington

Detectives have charged a Bidwill man with two armed robberies, one at Port Kembla and another at Werrington in April and May this year.

On Monday, April 29, three people armed with a pistol and a knife allegedly threatened staff at a Port Kembla hotel before escaping with a quantity of cash.

On Sunday, May 5, three people armed with a pistol allegedly assaulted and robbed a patron outside a hotel at Werrington. They then entered the hotel and stole an amount of cash.

About 9am Friday, June 14, detectives from the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad attended an address at Silverwater and arrested a 34-year-old man from Bidwill.

He was charged with two counts of robbery whilst armed with a dangerous weapon and one count of robbery in company causing wounding.

He remains in custody to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday, July 16.

Inquiries are continuing and police anticipate making further arrests.
