An 85-year-old woman was robbed of her $5,500 savings for her funeral by an 'opportunistic' bogus electrician who claimed her roof needed repairing.
Police Saturday appealed for information after the frail woman, who was counting the money at her Summer Hill home at the time, was robbed on Thursday morning.
He climbed onto the roof then said he needed to spray something poisonous in the house and told the woman to wait outside.
About 10 minutes later the man left and drove away in a panel van.
The woman returned inside to discover the money missing. Superintendent David Johnson said: "It was a cowardly, despicable offence against a vulnerable and frail old woman fleecing her out of her savings, her funeral fund no less."
The man is described as 25-30 years old, 160-170cm tall, thin-to-medium build, with a tanned complexion and short dark hair.
