Learn about therapy dogs
The guest speaker at Zonta's September dinner meeting will be Nicole Celeban who has been with the Nepean Therapy Dog Club for 11 years.
Nepean Therapy Dogs is a non-profit group made up of individuals and their dogs working in the community on a voluntary basis.
Unlike other groups, they train and care for the dogs at their own expense.
Nepean Therapy Dogs was founded in 1992 by Annemarie Schuster.
Members and their dogs have been visiting hospitals, nursing homes, centres for the disabled on a regular basis.
They have had many heart-warming experiences including participating in the joy of birth, helping to relieve the sorrow of death, and everything in between.
Ms Celeban will be attending with Teddy Bear (Cavalier King Charles spaniel), Sage (border collie), Annemarie and Christine Schuster with Basel (golden retriever) and Tyrone (shih tzu) and Marion Palmer with Gus and Fifi (golden retrievers).
