Blacktown's Simply Voices choir will hold its fifth annual charity concert for the Blacktown City Cancer Council Relay for Life on Saturday, September 28, at 2pm at Rooty Hill School of Arts.
The choir will provide a great afternoon of entertainment, including songs that will bring their Dream Theme to life.
Simply Voices began in 2007 as a project by Blacktown Council and TAFE to encourage people aged 50 and over to remain active in their community.
The choir now has a permanent musical director and 40 men and women members who have a rehearsal every week.
Admission is $10 and money raised will be donated towards the tally for the Blacktown City Relay for Life, to be held on the October 26-27 weekend.
Students invited to be
creative with disaster
High school students can unleash their creativity in an Australian Red Cross film competition.
Disasters Happen - Lights, Camera, Action! invites participants to create a 60-second film demonstrating the importance of preparing for disasters.
Videos can be filmed on smart phones and digital cameras, and must be submitted as a WAV, mp3 or mp4 file.
The winner of the competition will receive an iPad Mini, donated by Lion Co, and the winning film will be uploaded to the Australian Emergency Management Knowledge Hub website.
Entries must be submitted by September 30.
