A man has been charged with murder after a fatal stabbing in St Clair on Monday morning.
Emergency services arrived at a Bode Place building site at about 7.20am and found a man, 54, suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Attempts to revive the victim were unsuccessful.
A man, 41, handed himself in to Campsie Police station two hours after the incident.
He was charged with murder and is due to face Burwood Local Court on Tuesday (September 10).
St Marys Acting Inspector John Turner said it's believed the victim and his alleged attacker were known to each other and were sub-contractors at the work site.
It's believed there was an argument before the stabbing.
Acting Inspector Turner was unable to comment about the nationality of the men involved or the weapon involved.
Nor would he comment on where the deceased was stabbed and what items have been seized from the crime scene.
The State Crime Command is assisting St Marys detectives with the investigation.
Acting Inspector Turner said police have spoken to a number of witnesses and appealed to anyone with further information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
