Police have charged a man and a woman following an alleged pursuit in St Clair on Tuesday.
Just after 4.30pm, officers attempted to stop a car on the M4 at St Clair, following an earlier incident in Parramatta.
The car allegedly failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.
After a short distance the vehicle stopped, and a man ran from the car.
He was pursued on foot by several officers and arrested a short distance away.
The female driver was also arrested and both were taken to Penrith Police Station.
A Blaxland man, 30, was charged with a number of offences including resist/hinder police officer in execution of duty and destroy damage property.
He is due to Penrith District Court on Wednesday (October 16).
Police allege the man escaped custody at a court house in Parramatta earlier in the afternoon.
A Werrington woman, 44, was charged with unlicensed driver, not obeying direction of police, drive motor vehicle with person in or on boot and driving with an unrestrained passenger.
She was bailed to appear in Penrith Local Court on November 6.
