THIS year's Pet Festival will be held in the Blacktown Showground precinct, Richmond Road, on Sunday, November 3.
There will be entertainment and activities to help residents look after their favourite companions and to help raise awareness of responsible pet ownership.
Visitors are invited to bring their family, friends and furry companions, from 10am to 2pm.
The festival includes an appearance by celebrity veterinarian Dr Katrina Warren, who will be talking about pet behaviour.
Dr Warren, who has appeared on TV shows such as Totally Wild, Harry's Practice and Nine Network's Today Show, is co-host on 2GB's Talking Pets.
Other attractions on the day include animal shows, stalls, dog agility shows, dog washing and grooming, free microchipping for Blacktown residents (limit of two per household) and kid's amusement activities.
A spokeswoman said the event was an initiative by the Council Animal Holding Facility to provide a safe place for lost animals to be kept while trying to reunite them with their families or rehome them.
Residents can visit the facility during its opening hours from 8.30am to 4.30pm weekdays, 9am to 1pm on Saturdays and 9am to 11am on Sundays.
