Three arrested after Whalan break in

Three people are assisting with inquiries after a man was injured during an attempted break-in at a house in Whalan.

About 2.30am this morning (Thursday January 16), Mount Druitt police were called to Bramble Avenue following reports of a group causing trouble at the home.

Police alleged the group attempted to gain access to the premises, and damaged the screen door, but did not enter the home.

A man, 18, told police he was assaulted and stabbed with a fence paling.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Westmead Hospital ,where he remains in a stable condition.

A male and a female, both aged 17, and a man, 19, were arrested nearby and taken to Mount Druitt Police Station where they continue to assist police with their inquiries.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
