Emerton Youth Recreation Centre invites families to help celebrate Waitangi Day this Saturday, 2pm-4.30pm.

Waitangi Day, celebrated in New Zealand since 1934, commemorates the day in 1840 when representatives from the British Crown and 500 Maori chiefs signed what is often considered New Zealand's founding document.

There will be music, performances, face painting, a jumping castle and more. Entry is free.

Young leaders wanted

Chifley MP Ed Husic has urged indigenous Australians aged 16 to 25 to apply for the National Indigenous Youth Parliament.

It's a week-long leadership program held in Canberra from late May.

Fifty young Australians will be chosen to study the way the government works.

They will meet Australia's leaders and be trained in public speaking and dealing with media. Applications close on March 10.

Business people chat

A new group has started for Minchinbury businesses.

The Interchange Business Networking Group meets once a month to provide attendees the chance to meet and share advice with other small business operators.

The groups meets every second Tuesday of each month, 9am-10.30am at Creative Spirit Centre, 40 Sterling Road, Minchinbury.

Attendance is free.
