If teachers could be graded, Amy Krisenthal would get an A from her students.
The Chifley College Shalvey teacher has been named UWS Young Woman of the West for her contribution to the school.
She was nominated for raising the level of her students in NAPLAN and school assessments and changing the syllabus to meet the needs of individual students.
"The award was a big surprise," Ms Krisenthal said.
"I get my reward every day from the students.
"Western Sydney is an amazing region to work."
This is her sixth year at Chifley College Shalvey and she has no plans to leave any time soon.
"This was my first placement after leaving uni and I love it," Ms Krisenthal said.
She's has been a year adviser for year 9 since they began high school.
"It's going to be heartbreaking when they leave because this role is what I love most about my job," Ms Krisenthal said.
"They're an amazing group who make me love coming to work every day."
