At this year's Airing of the Quilts at the Arms of Australia Inn Museum on April 12 and 13 there is a special display of quilts from the 1930s and 1940s. These are from the private collection of Kaye and Bruce Brown's Finishing Touch quilting service near Camden.
After the October bushfires the quilters and their friends made quilts for those who had lost everything, supplying quilts to children from five Springwood preschools who had lost their homes. Within five weeks of the fires, 193 quilts had been given away, some coming from Victoria, the Northern Territory, South Australia and New Zealand. This year marks the sixth display by the Caring Hearts Community Quilters who made 1500 quilts over 10 years for palliative-care and neonatal patients, Barnardos and women's and youth refuges.
