Businesses pledge help

THE Nepean Area Disabilities Organisation (NADO) recently launched Friends of NADO, with eight inaugural members each donating $85 each month to help the disabled.

"It adds up to a bit over $1000 every 12 months for every member," NADO chief executive Denise Heath said.

"A lot of people in business want to help but they don't know how," Mrs Heath said.

"This plan is not too demanding. We can also update friends with what we're doing and the difference they're making."

NADO helps 400 people with disabilities, who live between St Marys and Katoomba, with special equipment and by organising work experience.

NADO treasurer Owen Rogers, the joint owner of Penrith locksmiths, Mul-T-Security, first proposed the idea.

"For the past 10 years I've spoken to many business people about how they'd like to help out," Mr Rogers said.
