Emergency services are working to free a driver trapped in his ute after it collided into the back of a semi-trailer on the M7 at Glendenning today (April 29).
Ambulance paramedics called the CareFlight rapid-response trauma team to the crash shortly before 12.30 pm.
CareFlight landed briefly on the motorway to allow two trauma doctors to team with the paramedics treating the man.
The helicopter then moved to land at a nearby factory to allow additional rescue servivces to access the crash which has blocked city-bound (north) lanes of the motorway.
The driver has been badly trapped in the crushed cabin of the ute, requiring stabilisation by the CareFlight doctors and ambulance paramedics as rescue officers work to free him.
Traffic in the area has been badly disrupted.
