FEDERAL Lindsay MP Fiona Scott has joined St Marys Rugby League Club to host Lindsay's Biggest Morning Tea to raise money for the Cancer Council.

A part of Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, the event has people come together to share a cuppa and help those affected by cancer.

"I am pleased to invite the local community to this inaugural event in support of a great cause," Ms Scott said.

"The Biggest Morning Tea is an opportunity to connect with the local community, but also to raise money to help fund the Cancer Council's vital research, prevention and support service program.

"One in two Australians will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85, which means everyone across our community will be touched in some way."

Club president Warren Smith said it was an honour to join Ms Scott for the cause because "cancer is something which affects all members of our community and by hosting this event we will raise not only much needed funds for the Cancer Council but also raise awareness of the Biggest Morning Tea fund-raiser".
