THIS is the welcome for motorists travelling to Blacktown on Sunnyholt Road from The Hills (pictured).
Cr Alan Pendleton called for Blacktown Council to send a letter and photos to Roads Minister Duncan Gay about overgrown and unkempt median strips for which Roads and Maritime Services is responsible.
Sunnyholt and Old Windsor roads are among the worst median strips.
Cr Pendleton called for necessary work to be carried out urgently.
"I'm not exaggerating when I say the vegetation is at least a metre high," he said.
"It's an absolute disgrace."
Cr Edmond Atalla said: "It's nothing short of cost- saving cuts. We are the largest council in NSW and deserve a lot better from the state government."
There was support on both sides of the chamber for the motion.
Liberal Mark Holmes said residents can tell they're coming into Blacktown City by the median strips.
General manager Kerry Robinson said the council has met with the new RMS contractor and received a schedule of planned maintenance.
