Nothing will bring Jonny and Bella Gaudiosi’s parents back.

Family friends have vowed to ensure the St Clair orphans aren’t forgotten and have planned a benefit night to be held on June 8.

Jonny, 14, and Bella, 12, lost their mum Julie in April after she was diagnosed with an inoperable melanoma in January.

Their dad Mario died two years earlier from complications of a triple-bypass.

Mrs Gaudiosi’s friend Jayla McMillan-Peterson hopes to raise $100,000 at the Show Your Love black tie fund-raiser for Jonny and Bella that she’s organising.

The only venue she could organise an event at short notice was in Granville.

Proceeds will go towards a holiday for the kids, renovations on the family home and setting up a trust fund for their futures.

‘‘I promised Julie the kids would be okay,’’ Mrs McMillan-Peterson said.

‘‘I don’t want to fail her or the kids, so organising the event has involved a lot of hard work and sleepless nights.’’

Jonny and Bella are in the care of family friend Sonia Burton in St Clair and are still coming to terms with their heartbreaking loss.

‘‘They’re adjusting well and have made themselves at home,’’ Mrs McMillan-Peterson said.

‘‘It’s baby steps for them at the moment.’’

Mrs McMillan-Peterson and Mrs Gaudiosi were friends for seven years.

‘‘She was one of a kind,’’ she said.

‘She was the first person you would go to for a hug. Julie would do anything for her kids, right down to spending the last dollar she had on them.’’

Mrs McMillan-Peterson hopes the community will rally behind Jonny and Bella.

‘‘If you have a heart and feel their pain, come and enjoy an night out to give some hope to these kids,’’ she said.

‘‘I want to see a full room of people there, showing that they care.’’
