THE Parramatta Eels hooking crisis has been solved.

The club completed a 2½-year deal with veteran rake Isaac De Gois over the weekend that takes immediate effect.

The 29-year-old is expected to line up for the Eels in this week's game against the Canterbury Bulldogs.

De Gois has played 174 NRL games in and was promoted to the starting line-up for his final game with the Cronulla Sharks at the weekend.

Coach Brad Arthur said De Gois would bring more than his crafty hooking skills to Parramatta.

"Isaac has more than 150 games experience in the NRL, and that's a bonus for us," Arthur said.

"We're a young side, and his experience and cool head will be a real asset in a key playmaking position."

The signing of a quality No. 9 became top priority after Nathan Peats went down injured against the Panthers.

Luke Kelly and Joesph Paulo deputised admirably in Friday night's win against the Cowboys.

But a specialised hooker is essential for long term success.

Eels chief executive Scott Seward said the mid-season move came at a good time.

"Brad Arthur identified the hooker and utility positions as areas where we needed depth, and we're confident Isaac will add a great deal to the squad," Seward said.
