Return of free dental clinic at Bidwill

BACK by popular demand, a free dental clinic will be held in Bidwill next month.

A community hall will be transformed into a temporary clinic to be run by qualified volunteer dentists and assistants on July 5 and 6.

Organised by Buddhist charity Tzu Chi Foundation in partnership with Bidwill Uniting Church and Blacktown Youth College, it's the fourth time the free clinic will be held in the area.

Low income families from the 2770 postcode will be offered basic dentistry aimed at relieving pain and preventing foreseeable oral infections.

Participants will also receive dietary and oral hygiene advice and preventative dentistry.

More than 100 people attended last year's clinic and received $30,634 worth of dental work.

Some 22 dentists and 35 dental students performed 85 examinations, 37 scale and cleans, 36 radiographs, 78 restorations and 49 extractions.

"With low incomes, dental care is a constant problem for some residents of 2770," Bidwill Uniting Church team leader John Dacey said.

"Patients were very grateful of the care and attention given to them and to their dental problems. It was a very positive experience which will no doubt be repeated in July."

Residents must make an appointment before Friday, June 20.

An appointment time and location will be provided when you book.
