Mount Druitt Police Officer of the Year named

Leading Senior Constable Jennifer Thomson received the Mount Druitt command's Police Officer of the Year Award on Wednesday.

She was one of six finalists.

Colleagues congratulated Senior Constable Thomson and noted her many other awards. She received the local area commander's commendation for her courage in arresting a violent man in Bidwill; was commended for her care and diligence in dealing with a woman threatening self-harm in Wilmot in 2009; commended also for removing a distressed child left in a vehicle during high temperatures in 2009; and commended for dealing with someone armed with a knife.

Senior Constable Thomson has also been recognised her work in a counterfeit currency investigation.

She joined the Mount Druitt command in January, 2007.
