NEWS IN BRIEF

Money to cut litter

A share of $375,000 funding is available through Keep NSW Beautiful and the NSW Environment Protection Authority's Community Litter Grants program.

Grants of up to $5,300 will be made available for community groups to tackle litter in their area for a second year.

EPA chief executive Barry Buffier said local knowledge about the litter hotspots would help to meet the state government's litter reduction target of 40 per cent by 2016.

"We need all parts of the community to get on board in helping us to achieve this," he said.
