A man has been charged after shots were fired in a Whalan street on Tuesday night (July 1).
Police were called to Gasmata Crescent at around 8.50pm after nearby residents reported hearing two or three gunshots.
Upon arrival, detectives located a bullet casing on the road.
Police were told a dark coloured sedan was seen driving away from the area after the incident.
There were no reports of injury.
A crime scene was established and examined by forensic specialists.
Police attended a home in Bankstown three hours later, following inquiries.
A man, 24, was arrested after a short foot pursuit.
He was charged with firing a firearm in public place, possession of a loaded firearm in public place and intimidation.
He was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today (Wednesday, July 2).
Officers attached to Operation Talon are assisting with the investigation.
Operation Talon was formed in August last year to combat public place shootings across Sydney.
