Pedestrian hit on Hume Highway at Yagoona

The Hume Highway has been closed westbound at Yagoona after a pedestrian was fatally struck by a car.

Police and ambulance paramedics were at the site of the accident near Cooper Road.

Cars and other light vehicles were being diverted through local roads, but trucks would have to park and wait until the road was reopened, a Transport Management Centre (TMC) spokeswoman said shortly before 8pm.

A police spokesman said the pedestrian was unconscious when emergency services arrived.

Earlier in the evening, a pedestrian was hit by a car in the inner-city, which was still causing minor traffic delays just before 8pm.

One eastbound lane of Goulburn Street was closed near George Street.
