THE state's best under-16s football players showed just how talented they were when the Football NSW side scored a comeback win against the New Zealand Secondary Schools team at Popondetta Park, Emerton on Thursday.
Football NSW sides took on a group of touring New Zealand teams last week, and it was the under-16s game which proved to be one of the most thrilling.
The 16s came from 2-0 down early to down the New Zealanders 3-2, thanks to goals to Lucy Mackie, Kellie Wilding and the match winner from Shania Pourrashidi with less than 10 minutes left in the match.
New Zealand scored two long range goals before Mackie got her side back into the match shortly before the break.
The girls used their superior pace on the wings to eventually dominate play and convert the chances they were missing in the first period.
