About 7pm that evening, a 26-year-old woman was walking along Queen Street.
She felt a violent tug on her shoulder and fell to the ground when someone tried to steal her handbag.
She was then punched and slapped in the head before her attacker ran away empty-handed towards St Marys railway station.

She is described as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander appearance with a dark complexion, 20 to 25-years-old, of thin build, with dark-brown hair tied in a bun.
