Woman assaulted in attempted bag snatch

Police investigating an assault and attempted bag snatch in St Marys on May 7 have released images of a woman who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

About 7pm that evening, a 26-year-old woman was walking along Queen Street.

She felt a violent tug on her shoulder and fell to the ground when someone tried to steal her handbag.

She was then punched and slapped in the head before her attacker ran away empty-handed towards St Marys railway station.

On Thursday St Marys police released security video images of another woman who may be able to assist with inquiries.

She is described as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander appearance with a dark complexion, 20 to 25-years-old, of thin build, with dark-brown hair tied in a bun.
