THERE will be no sleep-in for Westlink M7 Blacktown Running Festival entrants on Sunday.

More than 570 runners will compete in the revamped event, previously known as Westlink M7 Cities Marathon.

Blacktown Council resolved to coincide the marathon with the Blacktown Fun Run to keep both events viable and boost local participation.

The four events all finish at the Blacktown International Sportspark athletics precinct.

About 160 runners have registered for the 42.195-kilometre marathon, internationally accredited by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races. It starts 7.30am at Ash Road Sporting Complex, Prestons.

This is the ninth year the marathon has been held along the Westlink M7 shared pathway.

The 21.1-kilometre half marathon starts 6.30am from Blacktown International Sportspark.

The Blacktown City 10-kilometre fun run and walk starts 7.15am, and the four-kilometre event at 9.15am.

Costs range from $12 for the four-kilometre fun run and walk to $85 for the full marathon.

Winners will be presented with prize money, prizes and trophies at 10.45am. Entries close on Friday.
