Don’t give thieves an invitation
Thefts from motor vehicles are on the rise across the St Marys command.
Police said the break-ins have resulted in the loss of significantly valuable items, including computers, cameras and jewellery.
A St Marys police spokesman said people should remove property from their vehicles or, if they cannot, obscure it so it cannot be seen.
‘‘We’re trying to limit the opportunities for opportunistic thieves to break into cars and steal property,’’ he said.
‘‘Number plates are also being stolen.
‘‘Sometimes the first thing motorists know about this is when they’re stopped by police because their plates are missing.’’
He said people should check their cars regularly and contact police immediately if anything is missing.
