Family Fish In trout are hungry and ready to bite, said Blacktown mayor

It’s about to get fishy at the Emerton Leisure Centre.

About 600 salmon trout were delivered yesterday for the annual Family Fish In event tomorrow.

In the event, now in its 26th year, the fish are game for enthusiasts wanting to try their luck at the perfect catch.

Blacktown mayor Len Robinson said the trout are hungry and ready to bite.

‘‘The only catch at this event is the fish,’’ he joked.

“The Family Fish In is an exciting fun filled experience for the whole family to enjoy — whether you are a fishing enthusiast or fishing for the first time.

Participants need to bring their own fishing rod, line and bait.

Family Fish In will be at the Emerton Leisure Centre (35 Jersey Road, Emerton) on August 1, 2, 8 and 9 with sessions hourly from 5pm to 8.20pm. Entry is free to watch but fishing costs $11 for adults and $5.50 for children. Pre-paid bookings are essential. Details: 9839 6000.
