St Clair Public School pupils learnt about healthy waterways with a ‘Drip, Drop, Splash’.
The workshop on water conservation and the water cycle was delivered by an EnviroMentor from Keep NSW Beautiful’s sustainability education program on Wednesday.
“This week our focus has been on water, which has been well timed with the heavy rainfall at the start of the week,’’ said EnviroMentor Emma Sinclair.
“Students were able to recognise how litter from the streets could be picked up and washed out into local waterways where it looks unsightly and can be hazardous for native plants and animals.’’
Pupils also brought science to life by acting out a play about water conservation.
The council-supported workshops have run in the Penrith Council area for five years. It is the program’s 20th year.
