Sarah Jessica Parker has annoyed Perry Street residents in New York after doing a photo shoot on the famous Sex and the City stoop without permission.
66 Perry Street was made famous for being the home of Parker's character, Carrie Bradshaw. It's such a popular tourist stop that the owners have blocked their stairs with a chain and a sign that says "do not go on staircase please".
A source told Page Six residents on the street are sick of the constant tourist attention, and they're unhappy about her decision to do a photo shoot without asking permission first.
"The owners are up in arms as they deal with relentless tourists, and SJP has ignored their requests for an explanation on how she could endorse the shoot, even though 'no trespassing' signs are posted," said the source.
"SJP used their house during the years of filming, and now won't acknowledge that she and her company used the steps and facade, this time without permission, to promote her shoe line."
Parker posted an image on her own Instagram account, which shows her sitting on the famous steps in relaxed jeans, black jacket and a black felt hat pulled over her eyes.
The steps are also covered in shoes from her collection, which is called the SJP Collection.
On her brand's Instagram account, they posted even more images from the shoot.
In one photograph, Parker can be seen reaching over the metal chain to place shoes on the steps.
In another image the shoes are all lined up underneath the chain, with the no trespassing sign clearly on display.
Gerald Banu, president of the Perry Street Association, told the New York Post residents are sick of Sex and the City.
"I heard about the shoot. They didn't get the permission from the owner. The situation with 'SATC' visitors is still very intense. People who live here get upset that the sidewalks are constantly jammed," said Banu.
A representative for Parker said she was unavailable for comment.
The television series had permission to use the stoop in the show, but thanks to the relentless stream of fans along the street it's unlikely the rumoured third Sex and the City movie will get permission to film on the famous street.
"The only thing I could suggest to SJP is that when they write the next script, please have Carrie move to a new address," said Banu.
Parker launched her footwear line, called the SJP Collection, in February. It is sold by Nordstrom.
The colourful shoes are named after women, including her famous Sex and the City character and a style named after her sister.
