A counterfeit money-making operation in Victoria's west has been busted with the arrests of three people and seizure of fake notes and counterfeiting equipment, police say.
Following weeks of reports of counterfeit notes in the western region, police raided a property in Stawell on Saturday morning.
Three people were arrested and officers seized 24 allegedly counterfeit notes of various denominations totalling $1220 plus equipment used in the production of the notes, Victoria Police Sergeant Kris Hamilton said in a statement.
A 17-year-old male from Stawell was charged with 12 offences including obtain property by deception and produce counterfeit money.
He was remanded in custody to appear at a childrens' court at a later date.
A 20-year-old Stawell woman was charged with 16 offences including obtain property by deception and produce counterfeit money and was also remanded in custody to face the Ballarat Magistrates Court on Monday.
A 50-year-old Stawell man was charged with obtain property by deception and produce counterfeit money and was bailed to appear at the Stawell Magistrates Court on January 7.
