If you are looking for something to engage and excite your children’s creativity during the summer school holidays, consider one of the courses run by the National Institute of Dramatic Art.
As PART of its annual summer program, NIDA will offer classes at Rouse Hill and Parramatta to enthuse aspiring young thespians about the finer points of the dramatic arts.
Caroline Spence, the head of NIDA Open, said the summer school holiday program was always a lot of fun and a great way for kids and adults alike to be inspired.
"Whether you are looking for intensive training to build you acting skills, or you want to try something new, NIDA has a class to suit you," Ms Spence said.
"Our courses not only provide great training for the performing arts industry and a fun way to explore your imagination, they also help develop skills such as communication, leadership and collaboration.
"Along with new-found creativity, these are qualities our students will have for life."
Courses are conducted by NIDA tutors experienced in all facets of theatre, television and film production.
There will be only one class at Rouse Hill Community Centre. Acting for Stage and Screen will be held over three days. Several classes will be on offer at Connect Studios in Parramatta.
Operated by Parramatta Council and supported by a grant from Arts NSW, Connect Studios is an incubator and education centre for contemporary performance practice, its styles and techniques.
It is located on two upper levels of the Connection Arcade on the corner of Church and Darcy streets in the heart of Parramatta.
The cost of some classes has been reduced. See the website for details and availability: http://www.open.nida.edu.au.
