FAMILIES from across the west and beyond have been getting wet and wild at the Blacktown International Sportspark with the launch of Waterworld Central.
It is the first time the mobile waterpark has opened in western Sydney and will be operating until Australia Day, January 26.
It has made a real splash with nine inflatable attractions including pools, slides, paddle boats, and zorb balls.
The manager for Waterworld Central, Daniel Osbourne, 37, said the idea was inspired by a waterpark his sister saw in China.
Mr Osbourne said unlike Wet’n’Wild, his waterpark was mainly for under 16s and was smaller in scale.
‘‘It’s a different experience for families,’’ he said.
‘‘We’ve had a really good response so far.
‘‘I’ve spoken to parents as they were leaving ... they love it.’’
Parramatta visitor Donna Tabing said she really enjoyed the park’s smaller size.
‘‘It makes it much less exhausting for us as a family.’’
The family business, OFA Showstar, opened its first mobile waterpark in Newcastle before expanding to Moore Park near Fox Studios, Bateau Bay, and Blacktown.
Mr Osbourne said that 10,000 people go every year and said there are no problems with capacity.
‘‘Up to double the number of people can come, and it will still be okay,’’ he said.
