Guy Sebastian will represent Australia at Eurovision and not every Australian is thrilled about the decision.
SBS has drawn criticism for selecting the relatively clean cut Sebastian, who many view as an unadventurous choice for the famously quirky, bespangled event, in which Australia will be performing as this year's wildcard entry.
Online arguments have raged since the announcement on Thursday morning and the team behind ABC's Triple J radio station have fuelled these further by publishing a list of nine local acts they believe would have been better than Sebastian.
Sebastian has confirmed he will be performing a ballad, his signature musical style.
"No offence to Guy but we can think of several Aussie artists that would better represent all things Down Under and even have a stronger chance of bringing the A-game level of glitz and grandiosity that's expected of a Eurovision performer," wrote the team on their blog.
Instead, their recommendations include multi-award winning musician Gotye and talented and quirky singer-songwriter Sia.
 
They also suggested several well-known electronic music duos Empire of The Sun, The Presets and synth pop extraordinaires Client Liason.
 
Their suggestions transcend genres and include emerging hip-hop artist Tkay Maidza, folk rock band The Beards and metal band TROLDHAUGEN.
 
They also recommended TISM, an alternative rock outfit of seven anonymous performers who have been performing in the underground music scene for more than 20 years. The eccentric act was one of the most suggested online for the combination in the lead up to the announcement.
